In 1982, KOOD — our original transmitter — first lit up the plains, bringing public television to families across central and western Kansas. For more than 40 years, Smoky Hills PBS has been here for classrooms, living rooms, and communities that deserved access to trusted public media.
To celebrate where Smoky Hills PBS began, we’re releasing a limited-edition KOOD Throwback T-shirt — inspired by the vintage look of our early broadcast days and featuring the iconic KOOD call letters.
